The Best TV Shows And Movies Coming To Netflix In February 2023

Traditionally, January and February are the dumping ground for major Hollywood studios. With awards season in full swing and audiences playing catchup on the biggest titles of the prior year, the first two months are usually the perfect place for dropping projects that don't inspire much confidence. But the rise of streaming is slowly changing that trend. Less concerned about the box office and much more obsessed with keeping their release schedules consistent, streamers like Netflix make sure to always have exciting new titles lined up, dump months be damned. So expect another full slate on the streamer as we enter February. Just because it's the shortest month of the year, doesn't mean we can't still have plenty of fun!

Below is a list (and some curated standout titles) of everything coming to Netflix in February 2023.

Red Rose

The idea of teens being controlled by their phones has become a common refrain in the 21st century, but like "Black Mirror" before it, "Red Rose" takes our everyday fears of technology to frightening new places. The eight-part teen horror series follows a group of friends enjoying summer break after their GSCEs — or at least trying their best to enjoy it, in addition to balancing their everyday troubles and the drama of their online lives. But whatever bliss they manage to scrounge up is abruptly derailed by the introduction of the sinister Red Rose app, a supernatural entity that leads the teens down a path of self-destruction.

The mysterious app makes demands, issues challenges, and destroys friendships — all while preying on the teenage anxieties of the friends who made the mistake of downloading it. Previously released on BBC iPlayer, the series has been praised on two levels: for its command of dread and its depiction of teenage angst. Both of these make a lot of sense when you consider the team behind the series: "Red Rose" hails the producers of "Sex Education" and the writing duo of The Clarkson twins (Michael and Paul Clarkson), who are best known for their work on "The Haunting of Bly Manor" and "The Wheel of Time." In 0other words, prepare for lots of emotionally grounded teen angst being paired with slow-building dread.

The cast includes Amelia Clarkson ("The Last Kingdom"), Isis Hainsworth ("Metal Lords"), Ali Khan ("Halo"), Ellis Howard ("Home"), Ashna Rabheru ("Sex Education"), Adam Nagaitis ("Chernobyl"), Natalie Gavin ("Gentleman Jack") and Samuel Anderson ("Landscapers").

Your Place Or Mine

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher are headlining a movie that screams classic rom-com. "Your Place or Mine" tells the story of two longtime friends who first met during a one-night stand but have since become platonic besties. Witherspoon's Debbie is an LA-based single mom who thrives on routine while Kutcher's Peter is a marketing executive and aspiring writer who lives for the constant commotion of his New York City lifestyle. But when they both hit frustrating points in their personal lives, they decide to opt for a big change: they swap lives and homes for a week, to discover if what they truly want in life is different than what they always imagined.

And so the romcom hijinks begin: Debbie sparks a romance with New Yorker Theo (Jesse Williams), Peter confesses his feelings to Debbie's best friend and through it all, the romantic leads share numerous heart-to-hearts, seemingly unaware that their late-night phone calls are move language for "deeply in love." Congrats, your Valentine's Day plans are officially set in stone.

You (Season 4 — Part 1)

If you prefer more bite to your romance (or need a little something deadly to balance out the sweetness of the Witherspoon rom-com), then known ladykiller Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) has you covered. Though he's a hopeless romantic at heart, Badgeley's bookish protagonist is also, at this point, a full-blown serial killer. After multiple attempts at romance, Joe finally got the happily ever after he once dreamed about: a perfect wife, a white picket fence, and a child to call his own. But then he promptly burned all of that down (literally), left his son on someone's doorstep, and, yes, murdered his wife in cold blood.

Now, Joe is back up to his old tricks. The fourth season of the Netflix thriller sees him trying to track down his latest love, Marianne, a woman who has a pretty good idea of what he's done. So how will Joe cope? Easy — he assumes the persona of Jonathan Moore, an English literature professor, and hides out in London, at a random university. And because he can't help but stumble into trouble at any given opportunity, he immediately ends up attached to a friend group of English aristocrats who are suspiciously being murdered by a serial killer that seems to have figured out Joe's true identity. Forget his Jonathan Moore cover, Joe will now have to become Sherlock Holmes and find the killer before they blow his cover!

Also, somewhere in all of this chaos, Joe will no doubt become disturbingly attached to whichever woman smiles at him first, so good luck to whichever unfortunate lady happens to catch his eye.
