With construction commencing over a year ago at Beresford Estate, we have eagerly anticipated the unveiling of their newest additions in McLaren Vale, and it was worth the wait! South Australia’s newest high-end accommodation is now open, along with the new Vale Taphouse, making it the ultimate escape with that special someone.
Location, location
Beresford Estate is an easy 45 minute drive from Adelaide, set in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, in the world-class wine region of McLaren Vale. Beresford House still sits proudly on the property, neighboured by Beresford Tasting Pavilion, the brand new Beresford Suites and the Vale Taphouse. Set amidst 70 acres of working vineyard, the property is an awesome sight, with magnificent views from every vantage point.
The suites
The luxe new Beresford Suites are perfectly positioned on the property to take in the views across the lake and vines, up to Beresford House and the new Vale Taphouse. There are two categories of rooms to choose from, both providing a sanctuary for guests unrivalled in the region. The Reserve Suites offer indulgent studio accommodation boasting a kitchenette, private indoor and outdoor living spaces, a cosy fireplace and a well appointed ensuite with dual shower heads. The Grand Reserve Suites are the pinnacle of luxury, featuring a separate bedroom and private plunge pool on the outdoor terrace (complete with automated curtains in the living room for a dramatic reveal!). The colour palette is soft, with accents of blushing rose and copper tones that are immediately calming. The amenities are well-considered and there are some surprising, thoughtful touches — including a hair straightener in the dressing room (we just know there was a woman involved in this design!)
The Tasting Pavilion
Enjoy breathtaking views of the vineyard from the deck, or cosy up by the fire inside at the Beresford Estate Tasting Pavilion. Choose from a range of tasting experiences, complemented by a delicious cheese plate. If you’re after something a little more substantial, they do yummy grilled paninis for lunch too! Whether you’re staying as a guest in the suites, or visiting for the day to sample the wines, the staff at the Tasting Pavilion will ensure your experience is once to remember.
Vale Taphouse
One word – WOW! The new Vale Taphouse is seriously impressive. Perched high on the hill, overlooking rolling vines, the new home to Vale Brewing offers an exceptional dining experience with a view to match. Big and little kids are kept entertained with giant Jenga and Bocce on the expansive lawns, while serious foodies delight in a menu that showcases fresh, seasonal produce designed to be shared. All of this is complemented by an extensive selection of beer, of course! The staff are attentive and the first-class dining experience feels refined, without being pretentious.
With all the experiences on offer at Beresford Estate, this property is more than enough for a weekend away all on its own, but it’s also situated in the heart of McLaren Vale so if you want to get out and explore, you won’t be stuck for choice.
My recommendation – book two nights in a suite, enjoy wine and cheese at the Tasting Pavilion, indulge in a long lunch at the Vale Taphouse, sip on a glass of red by the fire, read the new Adelady magazine on your private deck, luxuriate in a bubble bath, have a sleep in and soak up the views from your plunge pool (not necessarily in that order!). You’re welcome.
